Radio-Info.Com reporting over the weekend that late Friday Night - Clear Channel's KEGL/Dallas dropped its "La Preciosa" spanish-language format and went all Christmas. A typical prelude to a new permanent format.
CC Market Manager J.D. Freeman not disclosing what the next format on KEGL's frequency will be post-Santa. Me thinks that it might be a real shame to let those legendary KEGL call letters go to waste!
Add that Dallas adopts PPM in late 2008, rock on 97.1 might make a lot of sense, given the resurgence of the format so far in Arbitron PPM markets.
I'm just saying....
Added (12/3): Radio-Info.Com's Tom Taylor suggests this morning that La Preciosa might have been a victim of PPM: "...in this Summer’s Arbitrons, it was ranked #17 12+. That made it especially vulnerable to the Arbitron People Meter, which seems less friendly to ethnic formats than the diary." Read here (free registration required).
